Local News-Military inductee killed in crash-

A drunk 19 year old boy, was killed last night. The young military inductee, Ozan Alparslan, drove his white 2005 Renault Broadway 20 mph over the speed limit down the Nato Yolu in Çengelköy around 11pm on October 28th 2009. Driving on the wrong side of the median, he lost control in the rain while celebrating his 'last night on the town' and crashed into an IETT bus which was on its way to the Ümraniye bus barn. Not wearing a seatbelt, Alparslan was thrown through the windshield and was instantly killed. The bus driver, Cem Bayır, broke his arm. Cem Bayır was treated at the Medicana Hospital and was released the same day. When asked what happened, Bayır replied, "I saw him coming and tried to avoid the accident by switching to the left lane. Unfortunately, the Renault driver also changed lanes and drove straight into me."
